Mago's love for children and literature traces back to her childhood aspirations of opening a kids' salon. Despite facing financial obstacles and late enrollment in primary school, Mago overcame challenges to excel academically, propelled by her determination to prove her doubters wrong.
During her career as a Human Resource Manager, following her graduation with a Business degree from university, Mago's journey took an unexpected turn when she was approached to write children's books. Recognizing the lack of African representation in library collections, she embarked on a mission to create culturally relevant stories that resonate with African children.
Despite grappling with imposter syndrome, Mago persisted in her mission to ensure every child had access to transformative literature, regardless of their background. Drawing from her rebellious nature and unique upbringing, Mago challenges societal norms and advocates for inclusivity and diversity in children's literature.
Through her organization, Read to Learn Foundation, Mago pioneers innovative sustainability models, including the Book Drive Store and a mobile app, to enhance access to African storybooks and learning materials. With projects spanning Uganda and Cameroon, Mago's work empowers children and communities to embrace the joy and benefits of reading.
